Where should you put the QR code in a holiday home?
The most effective spot is the entrance, at eye level, because that is where the guest looks first for Wi‑Fi and instructions. Add a second QR code in the kitchen or by the router, and one next to the trickiest appliances. Avoid dark or hidden corners, and test the scan with different phones before guests arrive.
What should the guest QR code open?
The QR code should open a single page with everything about the stay, not a PDF to download. With a digital guide like LOQY the QR code stays the same when you update Wi‑Fi, times or tips: you edit online and guests immediately see the right version, with no reprint.
Where to put it: the 6 spots that work
The code belongs where the eye lands on its own. Six spots cover a holiday home, a B&B and a hotel: you do not need all of them, you need the ones the guest actually walks past.
| Spot | Where | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Entrance | Where: At eye level, by the door | Why: It is the first place a guest looks for Wi‑Fi and instructions. |
| Kitchen | Where: On the fridge or the worktop | Why: Times, rubbish, how to use the hob. |
| Router | Where: Next to the device | Why: The password is there when the Wi‑Fi will not connect. |
| Appliances | Where: Next to the tricky ones | Why: Washing machine, boiler, safe, oven. |
| Room | Where: Nightstand or desk | Why: In a hotel, without opening the room compendium. |
| Shared areas | Where: Reception or the breakfast room | Why: One code for anyone who is not in a room. |
Holiday homes and apartments
At the entrance and in the kitchen, plus a QR code on the key box or the welcome card. It is the same code as the page: the guest finds it on the way in and again when cooking.
B&Bs and guesthouses
One per room, plus the breakfast room and the shared spaces. You print the same QR code again, not a different page per room, unless each room is its own property on LOQY. What to write in a B&B guide is in B&B welcome book.
Hotels
On the desk or the nightstand, in the lift, at reception, and on the sheet that replaces the room compendium. A changed time is updated without reprinting the sheets on every floor.
Campsites and farm stays
At reception, on the pitch markers, by the bathroom block and in the restaurant. If a service closes, you change the page and the QR code at the entrance stays valid. What to put in a campsite guide is in Digital guide for campsites.
What the QR code should open
The code should open one page with the whole stay, not a PDF to download and not a folder of files. The guest scans and reads. If the code points at a PDF, every change means a new file and a reprint.
A static code holds a fixed address. If that address is a file, the sheet ages with the file. LOQY’s QR code points at the property page: the address stays, the text changes. You update Wi‑Fi, times or tips from your private area and the next scan shows the new version.
That page is a digital guest guide: Wi‑Fi, arrival, house rules and contacts, opened in the browser with no app and no account.
LOQY’s Free plan covers one property, basic information and the QR code, with no credit card. Pro costs €10 a month or €90 a year, excl. VAT, with a 7-day trial and no card: if you do not add a card, you return to Free. Dedicated onboarding is not a listed plan: write to support@loqy.info and ask for a custom quote.
Linking it takes five steps.
- Create the property page on LOQY. The Free plan covers one property and the QR code, with no credit card.
- Add Wi‑Fi, arrival, house rules and contacts. Translations and local tips are on the Pro plan.
- Download the QR code as a PDF from your private area.
- Print it at the spots in the table, with a short line such as “Scan for Wi‑Fi and info”.
- Test the scan on an iPhone and an Android, from the distance the guest will stand.
Size, materials and the words to print
The code scans when the camera sees all of it, still and without glare. The rest is a test, not a size to copy.
- Print on matte paper. A glossy sheet reflects and the camera cannot read the code.
- Keep the code dark on a light background, with a white margin around it. Do not cover it with a logo or a fold.
- Next to the code, write a short invitation, for example “Scan for Wi‑Fi and info”.
- There is no minimum size that works everywhere. Print it so it can be scanned from the usual distance: a step away at the entrance, an arm’s length from the nightstand. If the test fails, make it larger or move it to eye level.
- Before guests arrive, try it on an iPhone and on an Android, with the light on and with the room light.
Wording you can print on the signs
There is no file to download. Copy the text, print it on an A4 sheet, an A6 card or a door hanger, and add the QR code you download as a PDF from LOQY. Each text is in Italian and English, so the invitation is readable for guests who do not speak Italian.

Frequently asked questions
- How large should the QR code be?
- There is no minimum size that works everywhere. Print it large enough to scan from where the guest will stand: a step away at the entrance, an arm’s length from the nightstand. Test it on an iPhone and an Android before arrival. If the scan fails, make it larger or move it to eye level, on a light matte background.
- Do I need a QR code for every room?
- In a holiday home, the entrance and the kitchen are enough. In a B&B or a hotel, one in each room helps, because that is where the guest looks, plus the shared areas. It is the same QR code as the page, repeated: you do not need a different code per room. On LOQY each property has one page and one QR code.
- What happens if I change the information after printing?
- You do not reprint. LOQY’s QR code points at the page, not at a PDF. Update the Wi‑Fi, the times or the text from your private area and the next scan shows the new version.
- Can I put the QR code in the booking message too?
- Yes. Paste the same page link into the welcome message, on Airbnb or on Booking. LOQY does not connect to the portals and does not take bookings. The QR code at the property and the link in the message open the same page.
- Does the QR code work on every phone?
- On recent phones the iPhone and Android camera opens the link, with no app to download. Test both before guests arrive. A very old phone may need a QR app: if a guest cannot scan, the link in the welcome message is the same page.
